Enhancing Operations at Sapperton Bottle Depot with RecycloRobo's Auditable Densifiers

Sapperton Return-It Bottle Depot, located in the heart of New Westminster, BC, is a state-of-the-art recycling facility dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability. Known for its commitment to efficient recycling processes and customer service, the depot plays a crucial role in the community’s recycling efforts, handling a wide variety of recyclable materials with precision and care.

The Challenges Faced

Space Constraints and Operational Inefficiencies:

  • Limited Space: Confined operating areas making bottle storage overwhelming.
  • Storage Issues: Bottles stored in unstable mega-bags stacked up to three stories high, posing significant safety risks.

Safety Concerns:

  • Stacked Mega Bags: Unstable mega-bags full of empty cans may fall on employees, increasing the risk of accidents.

RecycloRobo’s Solution

This is the densified volume of all those empty beverage cans shown in the previous image:

Space Optimization:

  • Auditable Densifiers: Compress returned cans into biscuits, saving up to 90% of storage space.
  • Neat Stacking: Densified cans can be neatly stacked on pallets, eliminating the need for stacking multiple bags.

Enhanced Safety:

  • Elimination of Unstable Bags: Removing the need for high-stacked mega-bags reduces the risk of falling objects and enhances employee safety.
